Review: Joie Chrome

RRP: £219.00 (November 2014)

The Joie Chrome is a travel system which i’ve found really worth the money. It has a really good look and works really well in everyday use. the reversible seat unit is a factor everyone wants in a pushchair these days and also come with the option of the ever popular Maxi Cosi car seat adapters and carry cot.

What’s so special?

The price has to be one of the best aspects of this system. It does everything that an iCandy (with prices starting from around £550- £600) does, but at a much lower price and it does this without compromising on quality. Joie describe the chrome on their website as “A master multitasker designed and engineered to combine all the best features available into a multi-mode pushchair including a: Car Seat + Carry Cot + Rearward and Forward Facing Seat.”

Most pushchairs end up costing a fortune due to the customisable extras that they say you “have to have”. With the Chrome, this simply isn’t the case. The seat unit fully reclines to lay flat so is suitable for a newborn baby as well as an older child. The carrycot option though is available if it’s something you want. You also have two options of car seats for this system. You can either purchase the Joie Gemm infant car seat or a Maxi Cosi car seat, and these will fit on the adapters for smoother travel.

The chassis has a really spacious basket. You can get a good-sized food shop in there which is brilliant for free up your hands in case you need to get to baby quickly. The basket can also be easily removed by undoing the poppers underneath so it can be cleaned.

The wheels on have some neat little tricks to. As all Joie pushchairs do, the front wheels can be looked into a straightforward position to stop them rattling about over rough terrain while the back wheels are large for a smoother ride. It also helps to prevent the pushchair getting stuck in mud of you live in a rural area. The seat unit has an easily attached foot cosy for in the winter which rounds off the stylish look.

This pushchair is a worthwhile, life long investment which can be used over and over again for all the children you may have.

The Chrome+ is now available at mothercare also with an improved chassis, but the rest of the features are the same (RRP £270.00) Photos courtesy of Joie Global
