Early on in my pregnancy I had loads of issues with family and friends, so my boyfriend suggested I started writing a diary to get all the thoughts out of my head. It was a really new thing to me and at the start I found it quite hard to do, but over the weeks, I found it really helpful.
It gave me somewhere to talk and let out all my emotions. Being pregnant at a young age can leave you feeling really alone, especially with school or college. This was the element I found the hardest as I really didn’t want to give up.
I thought I would share a small extract from an entry with you all so you can see what sort of things I wrote and that may help you. I was around 3-4 months pregnant at the time of writing the entry.
“I’m starting not to be able to handle college anymore. The work is fine, it’s just the going in early, finishing late, walking around all day and I’m just so tired! I’ve only really just woken up now (21:15) after being asleep since I got home…it’s stupid. I’ve also noticed that I’m only really sick now on the days I have to get up early for college”.
I really did find it tough and felt like I didn’t really have anyone to turn to. If you’re struggling to find someone to talk, try writing everything down. You also don’t have to share it with anyone. It can be your own personal record of your pregnancy to look back on in the future. I kept mine to myself until after Lily was born. I struggled a bit after she was born and found it hard to explain those feelings to my boyfriend, so I then showed him so he could get some idea of how I was feeling and that also helped.
It can all sound a bit silly, but it really can help. All you need is a cheap notebook and a pen.
Until next time…
