I recently picked up a copy of Mother & Baby magazine after seeing on the cover that olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington would be starting a pregnancy diary for the magazine and it was a really nice piece to read.
Adlington is expecting her first child and talk a lot about how she finds it tough no longer being in control of her body. She says that “I’ve spent 15 years of my life knowing exactly what’s going on with my body – But know i’m having to listen to my body and do what it needs’. This is something which a large percentage of pregnant women struggle to come to terms with.
I know for me, I had spent the previous couple of years before falling pregnant, loosing weight and found it really hard to accept that I was no longer in control of that aspect of my life. Adlington also goes on to point out some of the things the body goes through in the second trimester such as your hair feeling horrid and the fact you can break out in some pretty nasty spots!
What I find really refreshing about Rebecca’s article os that she is not shy about pregnancy, she is really open and honest, and this is just the first piece for the magazine. I think it’s great to have such a well-known and loved celebrity being honest with fellow expectant mums.
I don’t want to post too much about this as it is a good read and i’m looking forward to the next instalment in future issues of Mother & baby.
Until next time…
